Current source-backed snapshot

This page ranks every eligible CoinNudge sector basket from the highest to lowest median 24-hour constituent return—not by the largest coin, total volume or one extreme winner. Median return reduces outlier dominance; breadth, BTC-relative performance, eligible coin count, volume and alert-basket status show whether the leading theme is widely supported and sufficiently liquid. The 13 AI, DeFi, Layer 1, Layer 2, meme, gaming, infrastructure and other baskets are curated research groupings rather than official Binance classifications, and one token may belong to more than one theme.

Sectors are transparent CoinNudge baskets, not official Binance classifications. Medians reduce outlier influence, and baskets below five eligible coins are excluded.

How to read this page

  • Median return reduces the ability of one tiny outlier to define a sector.
  • Breadth shows whether a sector move is shared by its constituents.
  • BTC-relative return distinguishes rotation from a general market move.
  • Display eligibility and Telegram alert eligibility use different liquidity standards.

What can this page tell you quickly?

Best for
Finding which curated crypto themes have the strongest and weakest shared 24-hour participation.
Strongest evidence
Median return, sector breadth, BTC-relative return and liquidity coverage are shown together.
Main limitation
The taxonomy is curated and overlapping, not an official or investable sector index.
Update rhythm
Returns refresh about every 30 seconds while constituent membership stays fixed for the UTC day.

How is the crypto sector heatmap built?

CoinNudge maps eligible Binance Spot assets into 13 published themes and fixes that membership for the UTC day. A display basket needs at least five constituents with at least $300,000 each in rolling 24-hour quote volume. The sector value is the median constituent return rather than a market-cap-weighted or equal-dollar portfolio return.

Fixed daily membership stops coins from entering only after they have already surged and leaving after they fall. It reduces selection drift, although liquidity and prices continue changing during the day.

FieldHow it is computedWhy it matters
Median 24hMiddle constituent rolling returnLimits one outlier's influence
BreadthAdvancing constituents ÷ totalShows shared participation
Vs BTCSector median minus BTC 24h returnSeparates theme rotation from beta
Alert eligibleStricter liquidity and coverage checksPrevents thin baskets from triggering messages

When is a leading crypto sector meaningful?

A high median with strong breadth means several eligible constituents participate. A high median with weak breadth deserves caution because a smaller subset may drive the appearance of strength. Relative performance above BTC adds evidence of theme-specific rotation, while negative relative performance may simply reflect a rising market.

Aggregate quote volume provides scale, but it is not money flowing into the sector. It sums turnover in eligible Binance pairs and can include repeated buying and selling of the same capital.

  • Check the median before the single top coin.
  • Check advancers versus total constituents.
  • Compare the sector with BTC over the same rolling window.
  • Treat turnover as activity, not net inflow.

Why can a sector display without qualifying for an alert?

Public research benefits from seeing a wider but still bounded set of themes. Telegram interruption requires stronger evidence. CoinNudge's alert basket applies stricter per-coin liquidity and coverage requirements before a sector move can contribute to an alert.

The distinction prevents a thin theme with five marginal constituents from being presented with the same confidence as a deep basket. 'Display only' is therefore a useful data-quality label, not a negative call on the sector.

How should sector rotation be combined with coin signals?

A coin breakout supported by positive sector median, broad participation and BTC-relative strength has more contextual agreement than an isolated breakout in a lagging basket. Conversely, a sector leader without coin-level volume or structure may be too broad to act on.

Use the heatmap to decide where to investigate first, then verify the coin's volume, technical state, liquidity and derivatives context. CoinNudge delivers qualifying events, not a recommendation to buy an entire theme.

How can I tell broad sector strength from one unusually strong token?

Compare median return, advancing breadth and the member list. A large leader return with weak median participation is different from a basket in which most eligible members are rising.

These are curated overlapping baskets. Sector performance is not measured capital inflow, and heatmap visibility does not guarantee private alert eligibility.

  • Check the published basket date and eligible constituent count.
  • Compare the median move and performance relative to BTC, then inspect concentration among leaders.
  • When comparing sectors, account for shared constituents instead of assuming the baskets are independent.

Method and data boundary

At the start of each UTC day, CoinNudge fixes eligible constituents for 13 curated sectors. Display baskets require at least five Binance Spot coins above $300,000 rolling quote volume. Median 24-hour return limits outlier influence; stricter alert eligibility requires stronger constituent liquidity and coverage.

Sector membership is CoinNudge's transparent taxonomy, not an exchange standard. Returns are equal-constituent medians, baskets may overlap, and the rolling 24-hour window is not a calendar-day portfolio return.

Frequently asked questions

How many crypto sectors are tracked?

CoinNudge currently maintains 13 curated baskets, subject to the displayed eligibility rules.

Are these official Binance sectors?

No. They are transparent CoinNudge research groupings built from Binance Spot data.

Why use median instead of average return?

The median reduces distortion from one extreme constituent.

Can one coin belong to multiple sectors?

Yes. Crypto projects can span themes, so baskets may overlap and are not additive.

What does vs BTC mean?

It is the sector median 24-hour return minus Bitcoin's return over the same rolling window.

Is sector volume capital inflow?

No. It is aggregate trading turnover in eligible pairs, not net deposits or investment flow.
