DEX trading volume by chain today

Current answer: As of , using DefiLlama DEX volume aggregations for twelve named chains: Solana leads the 12 displayed chains with $1.69B of rolling DEX spot volume and 39.98% of this named set. Its equal-period one-day change is -46.88%. Volume is repeated trading activity, not net capital inflow.

Current source-backed snapshot

This page compares rolling decentralized spot-trading volume across 12 named chains using DefiLlama's protocol aggregation. It shows current 24-hour and seven-day totals, change versus the preceding comparable period, share of the displayed chain set, tracked protocol count and each chain's leading DEX by 24-hour volume. DEX volume measures trading activity—not deposits, TVL, unique users or net capital flowing into a chain.

Current source health

  • defillama dex volumes: live; last success 2026-09-13 15:36:02 UTC

This page follows DefiLlama's protocol and chain coverage and measures DEX spot volume, not deposits, TVL or net capital inflow. Tracked share is the share of the twelve displayed chains, not a universal all-chain denominator.

How to read this page

  • Chains rank by current rolling 24-hour DEX spot volume.
  • Share uses only the twelve displayed chains and is labeled tracked share.
  • Period changes compare equal-length rolling windows.
  • Volume is activity, not net funds entering a chain.

What can this page tell you quickly?

Best for
Seeing where decentralized spot-trading activity is concentrated today.
Coverage
Twelve named chains using one aggregation methodology.
Ranking
Highest current 24-hour DEX volume first.
Do not infer
High volume does not prove user growth, inflow or token appreciation.

Why does the DEX page use twelve named chains instead of an all-chain claim?

The selected set covers large general-purpose networks and several actively traded ecosystems while keeping each chain request, protocol breakdown and failure state auditable. CoinNudge does not label the sum as global DEX volume because DefiLlama tracks additional chains and adapters can differ in history or availability.

Tracked share is therefore calculated only inside the displayed set. If one chain response fails, the page exposes reduced coverage through its market count and freshness state rather than silently treating the missing chain as zero. Ranking a named comparison set provides a more precise answer than claiming universal coverage that the collector cannot prove.

How can protocol concentration change the meaning of chain volume?

A chain-wide increase supported by many protocols differs from a spike dominated by one venue or launch. The page shows both the count of protocols with positive current volume and the leading protocol's notional amount so readers can see whether the headline is broad or concentrated.

Even broad protocol participation can come from arbitrage, incentives or repeated turnover by the same capital. Bridge flows, active addresses, fees and stablecoin balances answer different questions and are not inferred here. A DEX-volume alert should name the rolling window and concentration evidence before a user investigates further.

What does DEX volume by chain actually measure?

The metric aggregates spot token swaps attributed to tracked DEX protocols on the named chain. It answers where notional trading activity occurred during the rolling window.

The same capital can trade several times and contribute volume repeatedly. A high number can reflect organic demand, arbitrage, volatility, incentives or concentrated professional activity; this page cannot distinguish all motives.

Why compare equal rolling periods?

Current 24-hour activity is compared with the preceding 24 hours, and current seven-day activity with the preceding seven days. Using equal windows avoids comparing a partial day with a full week or presenting an arbitrary percentage.

A sharp one-day increase can come from a single launch or volatile session. Seven-day comparison helps show whether the activity persisted, without forecasting the next week.

Can rising DEX volume identify chain rotation?

It can identify changing activity concentration among the tracked chains. Stronger evidence requires breadth across several protocols and persistence beyond one hourly snapshot.

Token price, sector performance, bridge flows and stablecoin availability are separate datasets. CoinNudge does not rename a volume increase as money flowing into the chain.

What should a DEX activity alert explain?

A useful alert names the chain, rolling window, prior comparable value, change, tracked share and leading protocol. It should disclose if the move is concentrated in one DEX.

CoinNudge can surface material, persistent changes while suppressing routine hourly revisions. The observation is not a recommendation to buy the chain's native token.

How do I compare chain growth without confusing a new adapter with new trading activity?

Changes in protocol coverage can alter aggregated volume. Compare the constituent protocols and adapter definitions alongside equal-period totals before attributing all growth to user activity.

Reported chain volume can include repeated turnover and concentrated activity. A public aggregate does not provide wallet-level history.

  • Save the chain list, protocol breakdown and source observation time.
  • Recompute each displayed share using the same named-set denominator.
  • Distinguish rolling DEX spot volume from bridge flows, net deposits and total blockchain transactions.

Method and data boundary

CoinNudge requests DefiLlama's chain-specific DEX overview for Ethereum, Solana, BSC, Base, Arbitrum, Hyperliquid L1, Sui, Avalanche, Polygon, Optimism, Tron and Aptos approximately hourly. One-day change equals (current 24-hour volume / prior 24-hour volume - 1) × 100; seven-day change equals (current seven-day volume / prior seven-day volume - 1) × 100. The public numerator and denominator therefore reproduce each displayed percentage. Tracked share divides each chain's 24-hour volume by the sum of these twelve displayed chains. The leading protocol is the largest positive 24-hour protocol observation returned inside that chain response.

Coverage and historical revisions follow DefiLlama's adapters and chain classifications. Tracked share is not all-chain dominance. DEX volume can include repeated trading by the same capital and does not measure bridge inflow, stablecoin supply, TVL, profit or organic users.

Frequently asked questions

Which chains are covered?

Ethereum, Solana, BSC, Base, Arbitrum, Hyperliquid L1, Sui, Avalanche, Polygon, Optimism, Tron and Aptos.

Is DEX volume capital inflow?

No. It is swap activity and the same capital can trade repeatedly.

What is tracked share?

A chain's 24-hour volume divided by the sum of the twelve displayed chains.

Why can DefiLlama values be revised?

Protocol adapters and historical classifications can be corrected.

Does high DEX volume mean the native token rises?

No. Activity and token price are separate observations.

How often does this page update?

Approximately hourly, subject to source health.
