Trending rank measures search attention on CoinGecko, not buys, holder growth, capital inflow or quality. Small and newly created tokens can appear; market rank, volume and liquidity context must be checked separately.
How to read this page
- Trend rank is attention—not price momentum or buy pressure.
- New to list means new since the prior successful sample, not a new token launch.
- Market-cap and volume context expose when attention is concentrated in a small asset.
- Users should verify contract, venue and liquidity before investigating an unfamiliar symbol.
What can this page tell you quickly?
- Best for
- Finding which cryptocurrencies currently attract unusual CoinGecko search attention.
- Coverage
- The provider's current top 15, enriched with numeric market data.
- Refresh
- Approximately every ten minutes, respecting source caching.
- Do not infer
- Trending status is not capital inflow, quality verification or a profit signal.
How does CoinNudge avoid confusing two trending tokens with the same symbol?
The trending endpoint supplies CoinGecko asset IDs as well as display symbols. CoinNudge uses those IDs—not ticker text alone—to request numeric market data. That matters because several unrelated crypto assets can share a short symbol, and attaching the wrong price or market capitalization would create a convincing but false row.
The visible table keeps both name and symbol, plus market-cap rank and absolute capitalization when available. Users investigating an unfamiliar item should still confirm the contract address, network and supported venue from authoritative project or exchange sources. Correct provider identity does not validate the token's code, governance or safety.
| Check | Page evidence | What it reduces | What remains |
|---|---|---|---|
| Provider identity | CoinGecko ID behind the row | Ticker collision | Contract verification |
| Scale | Market cap and market rank | Misreading a microcap as a large asset | Supply-estimate uncertainty |
| Activity | Reported 24h volume | Attention without trading context | Order-book quality |
| Persistence | Prior local rank and new status | Single-sample ambiguity | Longer attention history |
What should a user check after seeing a trending cryptocurrency?
First establish why the asset may be receiving attention: verified listing, price shock, security event, product news or social narrative. Then compare 24-hour volume with market capitalization, inspect venue availability and visible liquidity, and verify that the contract or network matches the asset shown.
A new-to-list badge only means the ID was absent from the immediately previous successful CoinNudge sample. It does not mean the token was launched recently. Repeated presence suggests persistent provider attention, while rapid entry and exit can indicate short-lived curiosity; neither pattern establishes expected return.
Why is a trending crypto not necessarily rising?
People search for assets after gains, losses, listings, security incidents, news or simple curiosity. The 24-hour price-change column can therefore be positive, negative or flat while search rank rises.
CoinNudge keeps attention and market movement in separate columns. Combining them into one bullish score would hide the reason the token became visible.
| Observed combination | What it can mean | Required check |
|---|---|---|
| Trending + high volume | Broad attention with active trading | Depth and price path |
| Trending + low volume | Attention exceeds current liquidity | Contract and venue quality |
| Trending + price surge | Users may be reacting to momentum or news | Volume, spread and source event |
| Trending + price fall | Risk event or loss attention may dominate | Official disclosures and liquidity |
How should unfamiliar trending tokens be verified?
Ticker symbols are not unique. Start with the CoinGecko ID and name, then verify the contract address, official project channel and the exact exchange market before assuming two matching symbols represent the same asset.
CoinNudge uses provider IDs for market enrichment and does not merge unrelated assets by ticker alone. The public table remains a discovery surface, not an endorsement list.
What does movement in trend rank show?
Rank change compares two consecutive successful ten-minute samples. It can reveal rapidly increasing attention but does not show the absolute number of searches because the provider does not publish that count in this endpoint.
A missing prior rank means new to the local list. It does not prove the token itself is new or that attention began only in the last ten minutes.
When is a trending-crypto alert worth sending?
A useful alert should require more than entry into a popularity list. It can identify new top-ranked attention and attach market-cap, volume, price movement, venue availability and any verified listing event.
CoinNudge should suppress low-information repetition and label search attention accurately. The recipient still decides whether the token is relevant or too risky to investigate.
How would I test whether search attention leads trading activity?
Use the time a trend rank was actually observed and compare subsequent volume over a predefined window. Selecting today's trending coins and examining earlier prices would introduce hindsight selection.
A provider's attention ranking is not a measure of all web searches or investment demand. Historical rank observations must actually have been saved.
- Match the provider's asset ID to the correct venue market; do not rely on ticker alone.
- Save rank entry, rank change, missing price fields and retrieval time.
- Include assets that leave the ranking and compare with an explicitly chosen control group.

What is measured, and what is not?
| Measured claim | Evidence on this page | Boundary |
|---|---|---|
| An asset currently holds a stated CoinGecko attention rank. | Provider trending-search order. | Absolute search count is unavailable. |
| The asset has stated market scale and movement. | CoinGecko numeric markets response. | Reported volume is not guaranteed executable liquidity. |
| The asset entered or moved within the prior-sample list. | Two consecutive local observations. | Not long-term popularity or token age. |

Method and data boundary
CoinNudge requests CoinGecko's trending-search endpoint approximately every ten minutes, preserves the provider order as trend rank and compares it with the immediately preceding successful local sample. The returned CoinGecko IDs are then requested from the numeric markets endpoint so price, market capitalization, rank and volume remain typed values rather than parsed display strings. New-to-list means absent from the prior successful sample, not newly created or newly listed on an exchange.
Trending rank measures CoinGecko search attention under the provider's method and cache schedule. Small, illiquid or newly created assets can appear. Rank change compares only the immediately prior CoinNudge sample and does not represent Google Trends, social mentions, purchases or capital inflow.

Frequently asked questions
What makes a cryptocurrency trending?
Its position in CoinGecko's current trending-search list under the provider's method.
Does trending mean people are buying?

What does new to list mean?
Absent from the immediately preceding successful CoinNudge sample.
