Current source-backed snapshot
This page has a fixed two-product scope—BTC-USD and ETH-USD—so it is a comparison table rather than an exchange-wide ranking. For each product it compares a fresh Coinbase USD price with Binance USDT and summarizes the latest 15 minutes of Coinbase aggressive buying and selling. The price difference is a proxy because USD and USDT are different quote currencies; active flow comes from observed trades after maker-side inversion and is not deposits, withdrawals or institutional identity. Neither measure supplies an executable arbitrage quote or predicts the next move.

USD and USDT are different quote currencies. Premium and aggressive flow are market context, not deposits, withdrawals or measured capital inflow.
How to read this page
- A positive proxy means Coinbase USD is above Binance USDT at the observation time; it does not establish an executable arbitrage.
- Aggressive-buy share measures executed taker activity on Coinbase, not deposits into the exchange.
- Price and flow can disagree; conflicting evidence is context rather than a forced bullish or bearish label.
- The page currently covers BTC and ETH only, while the primary search task focuses on Bitcoin.
What can this page tell you quickly?
- Best for
- Checking whether current BTC-USD pricing and executed aggressive flow on Coinbase support or conflict with a broader Bitcoin move.
- Strongest evidence
- Coinbase trades, buy share, net active flow and a time-aligned Binance USDT reference are displayed in one 15-minute snapshot.
- Main limitation
- USD and USDT are different quote currencies, so the displayed difference is a premium proxy rather than a risk-free arbitrage price.
- Next check
- Compare the proxy and flow direction with Bitcoin price structure, global spot volume, perpetual positioning and liquidation pressure.
How is Coinbase aggressive buying and selling calculated?
CoinNudge consumes public Coinbase Advanced Trade market trades for BTC-USD and ETH-USD. Coinbase's market-trades message identifies the resting maker side. CoinNudge inverts that side to estimate which side initiated the trade: a sell-side maker implies an aggressive buyer, while a buy-side maker implies an aggressive seller. Valid trades are aggregated into UTC minute buckets and then combined over the latest 15 minutes.
Aggressive-buy share equals aggressive-buy notional divided by total observed aggressive notional. Net active flow equals aggressive-buy notional minus aggressive-sell notional. Both metrics describe executed activity inside the Coinbase order book. They are not wallet deposits, withdrawals, ETF flows, stablecoin issuance or total capital entering and leaving the crypto market.
| Field | Calculation | Question it answers |
|---|---|---|
| Active buys | USD value of trades attributed to aggressive buyers | How much observed execution crossed into sell-side liquidity? |
| Buy share | Active buys ÷ (active buys + active sells) × 100 | Which aggressive side had more observed notional? |
| Net active flow | Active-buy USD − active-sell USD | What was the signed difference in executed pressure? |
| Trade count | Number of retained market-trade observations | How many executions contributed to the window? |

How can Coinbase spot confirmation improve a Bitcoin alert?
A Binance price or technical event becomes easier to evaluate when an independent venue shows time-aligned executed pressure. For example, a Bitcoin upside move accompanied by Coinbase buy-dominant flow and a positive premium proxy has more cross-venue support than the same move with Coinbase selling and a negative proxy. The additional evidence does not guarantee continuation; it helps distinguish agreement from conflict.
CoinNudge attaches fresh Coinbase context to relevant BTC and ETH alert explanations when available. It does not delay every signal indefinitely while waiting for one venue, and it states when the input is stale or missing. The public page lets a user inspect the source measurement directly; Telegram is the delivery layer for qualifying market events.
How can I separate a Coinbase premium change from a quote-currency effect?
Read the USD-versus-USDT price difference alongside the observation timestamps and quote context. A change in that proxy can reflect venue prices, the dollar value of USDT, or stale input alignment.
Neither a positive premium nor buyer-led trades identifies the investor type. Historical cross-market files require a separate coverage review.
- Preserve both venue prices and their exact timestamps instead of storing only the premium percentage.
- Compare premium direction with the same-window Coinbase executed-flow context.
- Flag unavailable quote conversion and avoid relabeling the proxy as a USD-neutral executable spread.

What is measured, and what is not?
| Measured claim | Evidence on this page | Boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Coinbase BTC-USD is priced above or below Binance BTC-USDT at the observation time. | Fresh prices combined with the displayed premium formula. | USD and USDT differences prevent calling it pure arbitrage. |
| Coinbase aggressive executed flow was buy- or sell-dominant over 15 minutes. | Maker-side inversion and retained public market trades. | Executed flow is not deposits, withdrawals or trader identity. |
| Coinbase evidence agrees or conflicts with another Bitcoin observation. | Time-aligned price proxy and flow state used as context. | Agreement improves context but does not predict return. |

Method and data boundary
CoinNudge consumes Coinbase Advanced Trade market trades for BTC-USD and ETH-USD. Coinbase reports the resting maker side, which is inverted to estimate the aggressive side. Valid trades are aggregated into UTC minute buckets and compared with a fresh Binance USDT price.
Aggressive executed flow is not wallet deposits, withdrawals or total capital flow. USD and USDT prices are not directly interchangeable, and neither venue alone represents global demand.

Frequently asked questions
Does a positive Coinbase premium prove institutional buying?
No. It is a price comparison between Coinbase USD and Binance USDT. CoinNudge does not identify who traded or classify the difference as institutional capital flow.
Is active buying the same as money entering Coinbase?
No. It is the value of executed marketable buy orders minus executed marketable sell orders inside the observed trade window.
How is the Coinbase premium proxy calculated?
CoinNudge calculates (Coinbase BTC-USD price divided by Binance BTC-USDT price minus one) multiplied by 100, using fresh observations from both venues.
Why compare USD with USDT if they are different?
The comparison provides useful cross-venue price context, but the difference in quote currencies is why CoinNudge calls it a proxy and not an executable arbitrage spread.
What does a high Coinbase buy share mean?
It means aggressive buyers represented a larger share of observed Coinbase executed notional during the 15-minute window. It does not identify those buyers or guarantee price continuation.
Does this page cover every Coinbase cryptocurrency?
No. CoinNudge currently aggregates BTC-USD and ETH-USD for this confirmation module. The page's primary search task is the Bitcoin Coinbase premium.
